New Year’s Eve Underground

Set design from New Year's Eve, 2008

Looking for something exciting and different to do on New Year’s Eve? Tired of the same old ball drop and countdown? Check out Immediacy Theatre Project’s acclaimed “24/6.”  Details are below, and tickets just went on sale today.

Immediacy Theatre Project (ITP) terminates its 2009 season at The Ethical Society of St. Louis with 24/6 December 31, 2009.

24/6 is ITP’s annual twenty-four hour new play festival. Six new ten-minute plays are crafted starting on December 30. Over the twenty-four period, a horde of playwrights, directors, designers, technicians and actors write, produce and mount the short plays. The full production remains a mystery until the show launches when all the plays run back-to-back, culminating in one massive New Year’s Eve celebratory event marking ITP’s birthday. “Five years ago my Co-Founder and I set out to create a company that presents exciting new forms of theatre. 24/6 was our first show, and it is the fulcrum upon which ITP’s energy hinges,” says Managing Director and 24/6 Coordinator Kyle Kratky. “Our plays rely upon solid writing about real human relationships and stories. This year will be no different.”
24/6 provides a structured environment where collaborators are encouraged to make swift, bold choices. The resulting plays are powerful, moving, comedic and profound. ITP connects artists from St. Louis, Chicago and beyond in a kaleidoscopic, high-energy event, providing an evening of solid, accessible theatre while encouraging new and epic stories. “24/6 is a reunion and a party. Old friends are united and new acquaintances join the fun. We push for something welcoming, vibrant and unexpected.”

24/6 will run one show only at The Ethical Society of St. Louis (9001 Clayton Rd., Clayton, MO 63139) December 31. Box office opens at 7:30 pm and the performance begins at 8 pm. A reception with free food and drink will follow.

Tickets, priced at $15 or $25 for VIP seating are available at the door or in advance.  You can purchase them online here.  Also check out this show’s Facebook event page here, and ITP’s Facebook page here.
